Where I’ve Been

When I told people I was spending a semester in France, the usual response was “Wow that’s great, you can travel all over Europe, everything’s so close.” But I decided to focus on France, and to truly get to know the country in which I was living. I had originally wanted to travel all over France, but time and money constraints prevented that. Instead I have been fortunate enough to travel throughout Southwest France and come to know this particular region.

Below is a map of the places I visited.

And hopefully Bordeaux and Lourdes soon! 😉 We must also go ski in the Pyrénées!

I’m with you on this – I think it can be more rewarding to visit a lot of places in one region or country (as you’re doing) rather than just a couple of days in a variety of cities / countries. You’ve probably gotten a much better feel for France this way as opposed to just getting a hint of a number of different countries through tourist attractions – not a bad thing, but there are advantages to staying in France. And it looks like you’ve done a pretty good job of getting to know France!

  3. I had a great time visiting Toulouse. Are you going to Tours? A pretty little town, with the stunning Chateau de Chenonceau nearby. well worth a visit!

    • I would love to go to Tours one day and see all the chateaux! Unfortunately I have 2 weeks left in France and no time to go to Tours. There are so many places that will just have to wait until the next trip 🙂
